THE PROBLEM THAT LED ME HERE:
I started working at a young age and developed a very strong work ethic. I was always told, “If you work hard, the boss will like you, so you can make more money”. A story that drove me, however, I was not living the life I’d dreamed of or ever had the money to do the things I wanted to, even with the added hours and unrelenting effort.
So the best solution was to work my way up the corporate ladder, right? I figured if I had a better, higher position, I would have more money. I learned pretty quickly that it also meant much longer hours and, quite honestly, the money still wasn’t that great.
Of course, I needed to “keep up with the Joneses” with a house (I couldn’t afford), a car I couldn’t afford, and debt creeping up so high I thought I would lose everything.
I always saw myself doing, being so much more.
I looked around for different opportunities, but there was always something “far-fetched” or “not quite right”.
Then I found multi-level marketing. The product was great. The people “seemed” so genuine and friendly. The events were full of excitement and motivation, albeit short-lived. I just couldn’t get myself to sell to my friends and family. It did however, introduce me to personal development.
INTRODUCTION TO CHANGE:
I don’t want to date myself, but when I started, I was listening to Zig Ziglar, Earl Nightingale, and Bob Proctor on cassettes. I had a special case that carried 80 cassettes so that I could listen to them in the car while I drove. I was in sales and so drove a lot!
I wasn’t a “reader” until I got my hands on those “self-help” books. Those I would devour from cover to cover. Somewhere deep inside, I was changing and still saw myself as so much more. Dreams, visions, thoughts; when the daily work’s frustrations would come up, I always told myself that I was worth so much more, beyond the limitations of working for “the man”. Not agreeing with policy or corporate decisions.
So the search continued until I saw a particular ad that somehow spoke to me. I ticked every requirement box there was. That led me here. An opportunity to live life on my terms. Earn as much as I put into it with no strings. Support with a system to follow. … and in the personal development field!
